About the Commission
The Arts Commission consists of five members appointed to staggered terms of two years; one member shall be active in each of the following arts: visual, performance, and literary. The remaining two members shall be interested in, connected with, or knowledgable about the arts.
The Commission was created by ordinacne to support, encourage, and facilitate the arts in the City; to encourage public access to the arts, by integrating art into all community activities; and to identify and coordinate the needs and resources of artists and the community.
The Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding works of art offered to, commissioned by, or purhcased by the City and proposed to be placed, erected, or created within city-owned buildings or property. The Commission also supports art by and for young people, raises funds to support the arts within the City, and performs such duties relating to the arts progam as the Council may require by ordinance or resolution.
