About the Committee
On April 16, 2008, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 08-016 establishing the Budget and Finance Committee as a standing committee. The purpose of the Budget and Finance Committee is to:
- Develop and make recommendations on financial issues before consideration by the City Council
- Help simplify and clarify information for communication to the City Council and the public
- Analyze and investigate financial information
- Make recommendations for the City Council on policy issues for staff research and/or action
Membership will consist of two members of the City Council and three members of the public at large. It is strongly recommended that two of the at-large members be financial professionals, ideally Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) with governmental accounting experience. Each member shall serve a two-year term of office (with staggered terms to be established by lot) and all other rules governing other standing committees.
The regular meeting of the Committee shall be on the third Thursday of each month with special meetings called as necessary.
Meeting Agendas & Minutes
Agendas for regular meetings will be posted at City Hall at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. Special meeting Agendas will be posted at least 24 hours prior to the special meeting. Agendas for both regular and special meetings will be posted online.
Once approved by the Committee, minutes will be posted on the web site. Minutes will be accessible for approximately 24 months.
