About the Committee

The Historic Resources Committee consists of seven members appointed to staggered terms of two years, and having demonstrated interest and knowledge of historic preservation and the cultural resources of Pacific Grove. One member shall be a licensed architect with preservation experience, one shall be a licensed general contractor with preservation experience, and one shall be a representative of the Pacific Grove Heritage Society (Heritage Society shall appoint its member).

The Committee was created by ordinance to hear and make determinations regarding additions and deletions to the historic resources inventory.

The Committee also performs such other duties relating to the historical preservation of the community as further described in Chapter 23.76 of the Pacific Grove Municipal Code.

PLEASE NOTE : Any property may be added to the City’s Historic Resources Inventory in accordance with the requirements of Municipal Code Section 23.76.030(a). Inclusion on the Inventory is based on the criteria listed in Municipal Code Section 23.76.025 and is not limited to a specific year of construction. The consent of the property owner is not required for inclusion on the Inventory.

Members of the public should contact the Community Development Department, at (831) 648-3190, for up to date information concerning hours that the planners are available, which are typically only the certain hours in the morning, Monday through Friday.

Meeting Agendas & Minutes
Agendas are typically posted on the web 48 hours prior to the meeting. All agendas will be accessible for approximately 24 months. Minutes for previous meetings are available by contacting the Community Development Department.
