The Pacific Grove Clubhouse

The Golf Course was first built as a 9-hole facility in 1932 on property the City purchased from S.F.B. Morse (Now Pebble Beach Company). The clubhouse was then located where the Meals on Wheels building is now located.

The course became an 18-hole facility in 1960 and the clubhouse was re-located to the present location at 77 Asilomar. The second clubhouse served from 1960-2006, and our current clubhouse was completed in February 2006.

The growth of golf and the popularity of the City’s golf course can be seen by comparing a 1947-48 fiscal report which indicated that 49,986 individual 9-hole rounds of golf were played and revenues were $21,617.76 during that fiscal year. In fiscal year 2002-03 we had a total of 82,330 rounds played, and $1,528,841 in fees were generated, in addition to approximately $80,000 the Golf Enterprise Fund received in concession revenue.
